Plugins

Clustta plugins bring the current-file workflow into creative applications. They connect to the authenticated Plugin Bridge in Clustta Desktop, resolve the open document to its project and asset, and leave repository storage, permissions, and synchronization in Clustta.

Browse plugins and integrations.

Requirements

Every plugin requires:

  • The latest Clustta Desktop running on the same computer.
  • An offline account or a signed-in online account.
  • Plugin Bridge enabled in Clustta Desktop settings.
  • A downloaded Clustta project containing the document.
  • A saved local document with a stable path inside the project working directory.

Plugins do not store Clustta account credentials or communicate directly with a Clustta cloud service. They use the local authenticated Bridge and the permissions of the active Desktop account.

Available plugins

Versioned packages are available for the plugins below. Host and operating-system validation coverage varies by plugin, so use the requirements in each section when choosing a package.

Blender

The Blender extension supports Blender 5.0 or newer and saved .blend files. It appears in Blender's top bar and in the 3D Viewport sidebar.

The shared workflow includes resolving and tracking the current file, checkpoints, Update, Sync, and status changes. Blender also supports optional dependency inspection, Link or Append workflows, and asset builds.

Install

  1. Open Edit > Preferences > Get Extensions.
  2. Search for Clustta and select Install when the extension is available in the catalog.
  3. For a manual package, download Clustta for Blender 1.3.0, open the Get Extensions menu, select Install from Disk, and choose the ZIP.
  4. Start Clustta Desktop and enable Plugin Bridge.
  5. Open a .blend file inside a downloaded Clustta project.

See Blender Extensions for Blender's extension catalog.

Photoshop

Clustta for Photoshop 0.2.0 supports Photoshop 2022 (23.0) or newer and local .psd and .psb documents. Its dock provides Track, Checkpoint, Update, Sync, and Change Status, with inline progress and feedback. It follows the active document and refreshes file state after saving, distinguishing unsaved edits from saved-file modifications. Saving does not create a checkpoint automatically.

Install from ZIP

  1. Download Clustta for Photoshop 0.2.0.
  2. Close Photoshop. If you installed another Clustta copy through CCX, uninstall that copy through its original installer first.
  3. Extract the ZIP, then copy its entire Clustta folder into your Photoshop installation's Plug-ins directory. For Photoshop 2026:
    • Windows: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop 2026\Plug-ins\Clustta
    • macOS: /Applications/Adobe Photoshop 2026/Plug-ins/Clustta
  4. Confirm that manifest.json is directly inside Clustta, not an extra nested folder. Copying into the application directory may require administrator approval.
  5. Start Clustta Desktop and enable Plugin Bridge, then reopen Photoshop.
  6. Open Plugins > Clustta > Clustta to show the dock.

The ZIP installation does not use Creative Cloud Desktop or UXP Developer Tool. It does not replace Photoshop's licensing requirements. Manual installation has been exercised on Windows Photoshop 2026; macOS and older supported versions still need equivalent runtime verification.

Alternatively, the CCX package can be installed by opening it with Creative Cloud Desktop. Do not keep manual and CCX copies installed together.

Connect to Clustta

  1. In the dock, click Connect Bridge and select the .bridge-token file created by Clustta Desktop:
    • Windows: paste %APPDATA%\Clustta\.bridge-token into the file picker.
    • macOS: use Cmd+Shift+G to navigate to ~/Library/Application Support/Clustta, then Cmd+Shift+. to show hidden files and select .bridge-token.
  2. Open a saved PSD or PSB inside a downloaded Clustta project. The dock displays its project, filename, file state, and workflow status automatically.

Keep the token private. The plugin caches it securely, but restarting Clustta Desktop can rotate it. If authentication fails, use Reconnect Bridge in the dock's flyout and select the current token. Keep Desktop running while using the plugin.

Update or remove

Close Photoshop before replacing the manually installed Clustta folder with a fresh copy from the new ZIP. Do not merge versions or change other plugins. Major Photoshop upgrades may require installing into the new application's directory. To uninstall a manual copy, remove only its Clustta folder while Photoshop is closed.

FreeCAD

The FreeCAD plugin supports FreeCAD 0.21 or newer and saved .FCStd documents. It provides a Clustta workbench and dock.

Install

  1. Install Clustta through FreeCAD's Tools > Addon Manager when it is available in the catalog.
  2. For a manual package, download Clustta for FreeCAD 0.1.3 and extract it as a Clustta folder inside the FreeCAD user Mod directory.
  3. Restart FreeCAD and select the Clustta workbench.
  4. Start Clustta Desktop and enable Plugin Bridge.

The user Mod directory is available from the FreeCAD Python console with App.getUserAppDataDir() + "Mod".

See the FreeCAD Addon Manager for catalog and custom-source details.

Krita

The Krita plugin supports Krita 5.2 or newer with Python plugin support and saved .kra documents. It provides a Clustta docker that follows the active document.

Install

  1. Download Clustta for Krita 0.1.3, choose Tools > Scripts > Import Python Plugin, and select the ZIP.
  2. Restart Krita.
  3. Open Settings > Configure Krita > Python Plugin Manager and enable Clustta.
  4. Restart Krita and open Settings > Dockers > Clustta.
  5. Start Clustta Desktop and enable Plugin Bridge.

Krita may require a restart after importing or enabling a Python plugin. See the Krita Python plugin guide for host-specific plugin details.

GIMP

The GIMP 3 plugin supports saved .xcf images through a top-level Clustta menu and focused dialogs. GIMP saves the image before Track or Checkpoint. Update directs the user to close the image and complete the restore from Clustta Desktop.

Install

  1. Download Clustta for GIMP 0.1.0.
  2. Find the GIMP user directory under Preferences > Folders > Plug-ins.
  3. Extract clustta_gimp from the archive into that directory.
  4. On Windows, copy windows/pygimp.interp into the user interpreters directory next to the user plug-ins directory.
  5. On macOS and Linux, make clustta_gimp/clustta_gimp.py executable.
  6. Restart GIMP and use the top-level Clustta menu from an image window.

Inkscape

The Inkscape extension supports saved .svg documents through focused commands under Extensions > Clustta. Inkscape extensions cannot save the parent document, so Track and Checkpoint require the user to save first and confirm that save in the command dialog. Update is completed from Clustta Desktop while the document is closed.

Install

  1. Download Clustta for Inkscape 0.1.0.
  2. Find Preferences > System > User extensions in Inkscape.
  3. Extract the package into that directory.
  4. Restart Inkscape and use Extensions > Clustta.

Nuke

The Nuke plugin supports saved .nk and .nknc scripts. It provides a top-level Clustta menu and a dockable PySide panel. Nuke saves the current script before Track or Checkpoint. Update is completed from Clustta Desktop while the script is closed.

Install

  1. Download Clustta for Nuke 0.2.2.
  2. Extract the package into the Nuke user directory.
  3. Add nuke.pluginAddPath("Clustta") to the user init.py.
  4. Restart Nuke and use the top-level Clustta menu or Clustta > Open Clustta Panel.

Houdini

The Houdini plugin supports saved .hip, .hiplc, and .hipnc scenes through a top-level Clustta menu and focused dialogs. Houdini saves the scene before Track or Checkpoint. Update is completed from Clustta Desktop while the scene is closed.

Install

  1. Download Clustta for Houdini 0.1.0.
  2. Extract the package into the Houdini user preferences directory, such as Documents/houdini21.0.
  3. Restart Houdini and use the commands under the top-level Clustta menu.

Cavalry

The Cavalry plugin supports saved .cv scenes on Windows and macOS. It runs as a native dockable UI Script, saves through Cavalry before Track or Checkpoint, and displays Bridge job progress and results in its bottom information bar. Update is completed from Clustta Desktop while the scene is closed.

Install

  1. Download Clustta for Cavalry 0.2.5.
  2. Run the included install.py, or copy the package's Clustta folder into the directory shown by Help > Show Scripts Folder.
  3. Open Window > Scripts > Clustta > Clustta.
  4. Dock the window and save it with the Cavalry workspace if desired.

Shared workflow

Resolve the current file

Docked integrations resolve the active document when they start or refresh and may follow host document changes. Command-based integrations resolve the current saved path when an action runs. The Bridge then reports whether the document is outside a project, untracked, or tracked, along with the available actions.

Track a file

A saved, non-empty file inside a Clustta project can be tracked from the plugin. Clustta validates the path and permissions, then creates the asset and its first checkpoint as one operation.

Create a checkpoint

Plugins save through the host application before requesting a checkpoint when the host API allows it. Inkscape cannot save its parent document, so its command asks the user to save and confirm first. A comment is optional. When it is blank, Clustta uses the next version label.

Update

Blender, FreeCAD, Krita, and Photoshop can run Update in the host. They confirm unsaved or local changes, close the document, wait for the Bridge restore, and reopen it afterward. GIMP, Inkscape, Nuke, Houdini, and Cavalry direct the user to close the document and complete Update in Clustta Desktop.

Sync and change status

Sync sends the current asset, checkpoints, and metadata to its connected Studio. Status choices come from the project, so each plugin uses the permitted project status names from Clustta Desktop.

Long-running Track, Checkpoint, Update, and Sync operations run as Bridge jobs. Docked integrations show job progress and offer cancellation when supported. Command-based integrations wait for the result and report completion or actionable errors through host dialogs.

Coming soon

The next single-file plugin wave includes:

  • Substance 3D Painter for .spp projects.
  • Maya for .ma and .mb scenes.

Godot and Unreal Engine are not part of this wave. Their normal unit of work spans many related files, so they require a separate project and changelist model before an embedded integration can update or checkpoint work safely.

Build a plugin

Host integrations should stay thin and use the versioned Bridge rather than reading a Clustta project database. Start with the DCC Bridge guide for the current workflow and contract guidance.

Built with love for creative professionals.
